Tobia Sleep Systems, Inc., First Company that Offers Consumers Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class I Certification on All Branded Finished Mattresses and Pillows Marketed in the US
Authorization covers testing for harmful substances in company´s full lineup of finished mattress and pillows not merely components.
Tobia Sleep Systems recently achieved an important first in North America with the with the awarding of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class I certification (the highest level human ecological requirements presently established for baby articles) to parent company Industrias Tobía, S.A. in Spain. According to Oscar Valdemoros, CEO of Tobia Natural Sleep the certificate covers not merely components use to make pillows and mattresses, but covers the entire line-up of finished sleep products marketed in North America.
“We are the first company marketing in North America with a certification covering our branded, finished mattresses and pillows, not merely the components we use to manufacture our product lines”, stated Valdemoros, “In fact we are one of the first companies to receive authorization on a brand-wide level internationally”.
For years Tobia, Sleep Systems has been a worldwide pioneer in the use of fully certified ecologically and human- safe materials. With the recent award of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class I certification for its full line, the company has taken the next step in offering fully tested products certified free of harmful substances. The company already was the first US mattress manufacturer to have certified its entire mattress line materials and components using a distinct Oeko-Tex 100 Class I number (2012OK0023) that covers a broad range from fabric to thread, foams and adhesives to guarantee the complete safety of Tobia mattresses.
Citing the actual certificate to Tobia Sleep Systems, company CEO Valdemoros states that this certification covers our full range of finished mattress and pillows which are manufactured with polyurethane, latex foam cores…with different resiliencies, as well as composite fabrics made with visco-elastic foam, PES, cotton or their blends, and especially important, it covers the fireproof barrier. Valdemoros further notes these tests and certifications meet the highest standards for protecting babies from harmful substances. “We have created a series of high performance, comfortable and technologically superior sleep products”, says Valdemoros, and our goal is to also set the bar at the highest level in terms of health and human safety. We sincerely hope that consumers will come to fully understand the importance of these company-wide and branded product certifications. Hopefully one day consumers will demand this and others certifications before buying a mattress, pillows or other sleep products.
Earlier in the year 2012 Tobia proudly introduced the first of its kind Sleep Comfort Index to the North American consumer and retailers at the Las Vegas market. Tobia offered consumers the first US mattress collections to be third party certified under the new “Sleep Comfort Index” that was originally developed by Hohenstein Institute, founder member of Oeko-Tex. At the time of this introduction Valdemoros stated that, “The Sleep Comfort Index offers consumers for first time an objective way to compare mattress performance and comfort”. We are offering retailers and consumers a proven, third party tested and objective index to help them make their choice. Now consumers have a way to compare comfort performance of mattresses regardless of the manufacturer or the materials used.
